Blockages
A common problem with any sewage system: especially where pipes have long runs and or turn through 45 or 90 degrees to make a connection to the tank.
Tree roots are also a common cause of blockages.
Cesspits – Usually only one pipe from the property to the underground tank. Worth having jetted every two years to ensure free flow.
Septic Tanks – One delivery pipe from the property to the underground tank and one from the tank to the soak-a-way or open water course. Think of
having these pipes jetted bi-annually.
Common causes of blockages:
1) items flushed down the toilet
2) build up of fat and grease from the kitchen
3) build up of washing powder
4) partial subsidence causing the pipe to break
5) ingress of tree roots
6) soak-a-way blocked causing the pipe to back up
